Curtis's obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Curtis Goodyk, cherished son, brother, father, and grandfather. Born on January 3, 1977, Curtis passed away on March 21, 2026, leaving a legacy of love, warmth, and compassion.

Curtis is survived by his children: Allison Goodyk, Brayden Goodyk, and Christian Goodyk; his grandson, Weston Newman; and granddaughter, Scarlett Newman. He also leaves behind his loving parents, Darrell Goodyk and Sharon Zylstra, step-parents Rodney Zylstra and Sheryl Goodyk, and his siblings Corey Goodyk and Carma Goodyk.

He was a cherished uncle to Justin Verhey, Jamison Goodyk, Alexandria Goodyk, Jackson Goodyk, and Hannah Nicholson. Beloved Father-in-law to Justin Newman, and dear Brother-in-law to Sasha Goodyk. Curtis is preceded in death by his grandparents Cornelius Goodyk, Esther Goodyk, Paul Palmer, Eva Palmer, Marvin Zylstra, and Celia Zylstra, and his niece Brooke Goodyk.

After graduating from Pella High School in 1995, Curtis joined the Army in 1994 and later became a part of the IBEW brotherhood in 1997. He was a dedicated Chicago Bears, Iowa Hawkeyes and Wisconsin Badgers fan. Fond of walking on the beach and spending quality time with his children and grandchildren. His love for karaoke and watching football games will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Curtis was a one-of-a-kind, compassionate, warm, and generous individual. He believed deeply in the importance of family, a sentiment he lived by and passed on to those around him. His greatest accomplishments were his children and grandchildren, truly the joy and pride of his life.

In memory of Curtis, we celebrate his life, his love for his family, and his unique spirit. Curtis Goodyk will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
