Curtis's obituary

Curtis McKay Bowler

February 12, 1962 – February 5, 2025

Curtis McKay Bowler, age 62, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025. He was born on February 12, 1962, in Mesa, Arizona, to Doris Mortensen Bowler and Albert Vernon Bowler. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Calvin Reed Bowler.

Curt is survived by his three daughters: Jodi Call (Phil), Katelin Young (Darrell), and Kacie Ruiz (Enrique), as well as his beloved grandchildren: Bennett, Aftyn, Olivia, Levi, Gryffin, Maddox, Piper, Ivy, and Maya. He is also survived by his sisters: Ann Mabee (Mark), Debra Crouse (Skip), Ellen Ashton, and Alison Roos (Gary); sister-in-law, Amy Bowler (Calvin); and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He is also survived by his former wife, Patti Andes Dunn, with whom he shared a family and many years of memories.

A graduate of Alhambra High School, Curt was passionate about exploring and learning about the world around him. He spent countless hours outdoors, immersing himself in the history and details of the places he visited. Curt also had a love for woodworking, creating everything from custom shelves to hand-crafted cutting boards. His hands were skilled at fixing, building, and making things work.

Curt served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Winnipeg Manitoba Canada Mission, a chapter of his life that shaped his values and character. He served throughout his life as a member of his church, where he served diligently and cheerfully in many callings. He was a devoted father and grandfather, and he cherished the time he spent fishing and taking his grandkids on exciting adventures. Curt was blessed with a circle of brave friends who joined him on many of his explorations, creating lasting memories along the way.

Professionally, Curt worked as a handyman and maintenance worker for the Phoenix Fire Department, where he became known for his ability to fix things and tackle any repair or project that came his way.

Curt’s warmth, generosity, and sense of adventure will be missed by all who knew him. His love for his family, his friends, and the world around him left an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him.

A memorial service to honor Curt's life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 2740 S Lindsay Road, Gilbert, AZ 85295.
