construction and concrete work, asphalt hauling, and over the road truck driving, He worked for Des Moines Asphalt and Paving, Breman Enterprises, Terry's Quality Concrete, Midwest Ready Mix, and in 1989 he joined the Des Moines Fire Department. Curlee enjoyed being a firefighter and even decided to take swimming lessons so he could serve on the Des Moines Fire Department's Water Rescue Team. He was dedicated and proud to be able to serve his community in this capacity. He retired from the Fire Department in 2003 after an on the job injury. Over his working career he was a member of "The Laborers' International Union Of North America", "The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Chauffeurs,
Warehouseman and Helpers of America", and "The International Association of Firefighters". In his spare time, Curlee was an avid artist and military model builder. He also enjoyed off road "four wheeling", driving country roads listening to music with his family, collecting guns and playing basketball. After he retired he enjoyed playing flight simulator Games, driving his yard tractor, as his body would allow, coaching the elementary school basketball team, spending time with his kids and watching history channel. Curlee and his former wife Diane Ware were blessed with two children,
Jessica Lee Ware, and Curlee Joseph (C.J.) Ware, Curlee's children were his world and he lived his life for them, even through the toughest moments.
Curlee earned his wings to a better place on February 11th, 2019, after a long and courageous crusade through years of living with quadriplegia.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Douglas Ware, Sr. , his mother Pocollia (Larkin) Ware, sisters Diva E. Drawford and Mary K. Elliott,
And brother Frederick Douglas Ware Jr.
He is survived by his children, Jessica Lee Ware and Curlee Joseph (C.J.) Ware, their motherDiane(Barrett)Ware, his sister Tracye (Ike) Brown and sister Marva Howse, along with many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
