Craig's obituary

Craig David Braund (1960-2025)

Craig David Braund, 64, of Riverside, California, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family.

Born in  Cleaveland, Ohio, to Josephine and William Braund, he grew up alongside his sisters, Karen and Shelly. Craig’s family spent his high school years in Luxembourg, where he developed a taste for pastry, skied the Swiss alps, explored Europe, and played on the high school football and wrestling teams.

Craig met the love of his life, Kathy, at a chance meeting by the copier at work, and he knew it was fate. They were married on April 16, 1983. For 42 years, they shared a partnership full of devotion, fun, laughter, and delicious food. Together, they raised two daughters, Allison and Melanie, who inherited their dad’s wit, work ethic, and independent spirit.

Craig worked in engineering and sales, but his greatest pride was his role as Grandpa. He loved nothing more than to get down on the floor and play with his grandchildren Nathan, Jacob, and Piper. He would always take the kids shopping to pick out the most elaborate toy sets, then happily spent hours with them assembling tracks and little pieces.

A lover of classic rock (with Rush at the top of his playlist), Craig was known for his dry wit, perfectly timed one-liners, and a flair for the outrageous, like arriving at a Christmas party festooned in lights or creating a newsletter for his friends detailing their cannonball contests. He was exceptionably loyal to his friends, family, and the Las Vegas Raiders.

He was also a man of faith and a dedicated member of his men’s group, where he built meaningful friendships and shared his quiet wisdom.

Craig leaves behind a legacy of love, humor, and loyalty. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his daughters and their spouses Allison and Christopher, Melanie and Matthew, his cherished grandchildren Nathan, Jacob, and Piper; his father William, and his sisters Karen and Shelly.

He will be deeply missed—and fondly remembered by everyone who ever shared a laugh, a game, a story, a steak, or a rock anthem with him.

A Celebration of Life is planned on April 24th at 12 pm at the California Citrus Park, 9400 Dufferin Ave, Riverside, CA 92503.
