On January 8, 2024, our sweet Courtney Ruth Migdal (née Belsheim) passed away unexpectedly. She was cherished by her family and loved by countless friends.

Courtney was born on October 18, 1990 to Douglas Wilson Belsheim, Jr. and W. Blair McClurg of Canyon Country, California. Courtney’s spirit was contagious; she was unfailingly happy, easily recognized by her wispy, flaxen hair and her quick, bright smile.

Courtney graduated from Canyon High School in 2008 and went on to Santa Barbara City College. She transferred to UC Santa Barbara and graduated in 2012 with a degree in psychology.

She loved soccer and played from first grade through her second year at Santa Barbara City College (Firestorm, Samba, Santa Clarita United, Canyon High School, and Santa Barbara City College.) One of Courtney’s greatest joys were the relationships she made with her teammates, many of whom became lifelong friends. She’ll always be remembered for her huge smile after scoring a goal and celebrating with teammates after a victory.

Courtney enjoyed a career as a marketing manager in the entertainment business. She worked at Fox Sports, FX, Team One, Carat USA, and Hulu.

Courtney’s hobbies included being a Nike Product Tester where she would be sent Nike shoes to workout in and would provide her feedback; watching the latest murder documentary or Bravo show; taking her Beagle, Maggie, to the dog park; traveling to different parts of the world including Hawaii, Alaska, Greece, Mexico, and Spain; and finally, teaching children in her apartment building her love for soccer.

Courtney officially married Andrew Migdal on June 12, 2020; they repeated their vows in her parents’ garden on June 27, 2020 with their immediate family attending, while other family and loved ones enjoyed watching the celebrations via Zoom.

Courtney is survived by her husband Andrew Migdal; her parents Douglas and Blair Belsheim; her brother Douglas (Daniella) Belsheim III and their two children Meadow and Penelope. Other surviving family members include aunts and uncles: Gina Smurthwaite, Helen (Don) Moore, Carrie (Phil) Bellanger, Tricia (Irv) Hurst, Pam Richardson, Cindy (Peter) Havlik, and many loving cousins: Emily (Brian) Freund, Jade (Andy) Babbitt, Jordan (Sean) Sullivan, Cathy Hurst, Kenny (Katie) Hurst, Jason Telehany, Jeffrey Telehany, Nicole (Patrick) Grafton, Audrey (Dallas) Quinalty, and Laura (Drew) Sahli.
