Corey's obituary
On the evening of November 13, 2022, Corey Thomas Jones passed away unexpectedly at his home in Tacoma WA. He was 40 years old. Corey was truly one of a kind and our family is devastated by this loss.
Corey was born on June 29, 1982, in Tacoma, WA to parents Richard and Janice Jones. He grew up in University Place and attended Curtis High School. Corey played soccer as a younger child, football into middle school, and even as an adult loved watching basketball, and football games, and going to sporting events of any type.
Corey was never meant to stay in one place. During his life, he lived in Oregon, New York, and multiple places in WA State. He loved to travel and experience new places. Some of his favorite memories came from A trip to Mexico with his brother, Brian, a family road trip that ended with him and Danielle getting married in Las Vegas, and many many fishing trips he took with his Dad, Brother, and friends over the years. It was the joy of new experiences that led him to find his passion and career.
Corey attended Bates Technical College and graduated with his Class A CDL with endorsements. He had no fear when it came to driving Semi trucks, the bigger the better and he enjoyed the challenges he overcame while learning the trade. Along his routes, he would stop at State Parks, monuments, and amusement parks and drop in to visit family. He loved every minute of it. He planned to switch to interstate routes this coming Spring.
Corey is survived by his wife Danielle; Step Daughters Madelynn and Millie-Anne; Parents Rick (Lisa) Jones & Janice (Bob) Thomas; Brothers, Brian (Christina) and Drake (Tyeanna); Sister Teresa (Chad) Kennard, Nieces Ryley, Rosalinda & Mariella; and dearest friends Skyler (Faith) Padilla, Erick (Courtney) Jefferies and Doug (Stephanie) Brown.
Corey was preceded in death by grandparents Richard and Marian Larson and Thomas and Margaret Jones. As well as lifelong friends Jeff Shaw, Matt Covey, and Jamar Odom.
It was rare if you saw Corey without a smile on his face. He was one of the funniest people you'll ever meet and he loved making others laugh. As Corey would often say, " Let me leave you with a bit of game." He was a firm believer in good energy, positive vibes, and finding the positive in every situation. That is what our family will hold onto; good memories of Corey, slowing down, and loving more.
We ask everyone who loved Corey to join us on Saturday, December 10th, at 2:30 pm at Point Defiance Pagoda to celebrate his life. Service will start promptly at 2:30 pm
