Corey had so many talents. He loved to paint. He had a kind, gentle heart. He loved his Son so much. I was much older than Corey, and there were times he would sit down and open up to me. I know he had his demons he was fighting. We all have our demons. I know God accepted him with open arms, because he knows none of his children are perfect. The last time I saw Corey it was a hot day and he came over to do yard work for me. He said he had a job interview that afternoon, I was excited for him. After he finished the yard work, I brought him in to sit down and cool off and get fluids in him. Time was of the essence so I let him take a shower here, then pulled out a nice polo shirt that I had bought for my grandson in the Air Force and gave it to him to put on, since it was too small for my grandson who had shot up to 6’3’. He looked really nice when he left here, he had gained weight, I paid him for his work and gave him a big hug. Little did I know that would be the last time I saw him. I always felt like if you really loved someone, and you both had a problem, if only one is serious about sobriety, if you truly love that Person you will respect their wishes and support them. May you finally be at peace Corey, I know your watching over your son, family and close friends.
