Corey's obituary

In Loving Memory of Corey Brown

July 17, 1969 – May 11, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Corey Brown—a beloved husband, father, and friend—who left us on Mother’s Day, May 11, 2025. Born on July 17, 1969, Corey lived a life marked by love, strength, courage, and generosity. He was a man whose unwavering dedication to his family, deep faith in God, and unshakeable presence in the lives of others left a deep and lasting impact. Corey’s strength wasn’t just physical—it was reflected in his loyalty, leadership, and the fierce love he gave to those he cared about. He was truly a man of God, living his life with compassion, humility, and faith.

Corey is survived by his loving wife, Nikki Brown, and their three sons—Kenyatta, Nico, and Nicholas—who were the center of his world. He also leaves behind a host of family members who cherished him dearly, including many relatives and friends whose lives were touched by his kindness and generosity. Corey was preceded in death by his mother, Mattie B. Brown, and his father, Stanley Smith, both of whom passed away when he was young. Despite their early departure, Corey carried their lessons with him throughout his life. His father, in particular, had a profound influence on him, teaching him not only the importance of history but also instilling a love for learning and understanding the world around him.

Corey took immense pride in each of his boys and poured his heart into supporting their passions—Kenyatta with football, and Nico and Nicholas with baseball. He spent countless hours working with Nicholas and Nico on their baseball skills—Nicholas excelling as a skilled catcher, and Nico as a sharp third baseman. Both were known for their powerful hitting and competitive spirit, a direct reflection of their father's tireless coaching, belief in their potential, and love of the game. Whether it was a long practice, a road game, or late-night talks about baseball, going over every single play, Corey was always there—cheering, teaching, and loving without limits. He wasn’t just a father; he was their biggest fan, their coach, and their lifelong hero.

Corey was passionate about education and devoted much of his career to making a difference in the lives of students. As an ESE teacher, he worked tirelessly to provide guidance, support, and understanding to those who needed it most. His commitment to helping students grow academically and personally was unwavering. Later in his career, Corey became a teacher mentor, continuing to impact the lives of others by supporting and guiding fellow educators. His dedication to teaching and mentoring left a lasting mark on both students and colleagues alike.

Corey was a devoted husband, a loyal friend, and always ready to lend a hand or offer heartfelt advice. More than just a protector, he was a tireless encourager who believed in bringing out the best in people. He led by example with humility and integrity, always wearing his heart on his sleeve. His commitment to his family, his love for God, and his passion for life were a source of inspiration to all.

Corey’s legacy is a testament to the extraordinary man he was. His ethos of hope, his faith in a better future, and his deep love for his family will continue to inspire everyone who knew him. As a husband, father, mentor, teacher, coach, and man of God, he touched countless lives, helping people grow and transform in lasting ways.

Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we choose to celebrate the life of Corey Brown—a life filled with love, service, laughter, and quiet strength. His stories will echo in our memories, his laughter will live on in our homes, and his wisdom will continue to guide us. We will miss him deeply, but his legacy will forever live within us.
