Connie's obituary
Constance Louise “Connie” McNabb (née Crump), a devoted mother, grandmother, educator, and artist, passed away on June 12, 2025, in Miami, Florida. She was 83 years old.
Born on January 8, 1942, in Kansas City, Kansas, Connie’s life was marked by creativity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community. Her journey led her to South Florida, where she pursued higher education and earned a Master’s Degree in Drama from the University of Miami. With a passion for teaching and the arts, she began shaping young minds as a drama teacher at Miami Killian Senior High School in the early 1970s.
Connie’s talents extended far beyond the classroom. A gifted crafter with an eye for detail and whimsy, she became known for her award-winning soft sculpture dolls—delicate creations that earned her accolades at the Dade County Youth Fair. Her artistry brought joy to many and reflected her boundless imagination and skill.
In addition to her creative pursuits, Connie was an exceptional amateur cook. Her culinary flair was legendary among those who knew her best. Friends and family often joked that had MasterChef aired just a few years earlier, she would have been a fierce competitor—and likely a champion.
Faith played a central role throughout Connie’s life. A devoted Christian, she gave generously of her time and energy to church projects across several congregations. Her final church home was Coral Gables Congregational Church, where she found spiritual nourishment and fellowship. She also maintained strong ties with St. Andrews Episcopal Church and Christ Congregational United Church of Christ in Palmetto Bay.
Above all else, Connie cherished her family. She was a steadfast presence in the lives of her two sons, Jeff and Chris—always supportive, always loving—and took immense pride in their accomplishments. As a grandmother to Samantha, Alexandra, and Kaitlin, she radiated warmth and joy. Her bond with them was deep and enduring.
Connie also shared a special connection with her daughter-in-law Zilkia-Marie. So inspired was she by Zilkia-Marie’s style that it became something of a tradition: if Zilkia-Marie got a new purse or jacket or pair of shoes—Connie simply had to have one too.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bob McNabb in 2004. Their partnership was one of mutual respect and affection—a foundation upon which their family flourished.
Connie McNabb leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, faith, and devotion. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her and continue to inspire all whose lives she touched. A Funeral Service will be held on June 28, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Coral Gables Congregational Church, 3010 De Soto Blvd, Coral Gables, Florida 33134.
