Background
On June 15th, 2024, we lost our beloved little brother, son, and friend, Connor Steven Wood after his long battle with depression and mental illness. Before his illness, Connor was a sensitive, kind soul with an insatiable curiosity and a deep love for music, spending countless hours jamming with his high school buddies in their band.
One thing that defined Connor was his immense love for animals. Growing up, our home was always filled with pets who matched his tender spirit. He had a special way with animals, from his numerous dogs, cats and hamsters, to his job at a dog daycare in 2019, where he found pure happiness caring for pups who adored him as much as he adored them. When he moved to Washington he struggled to find community, but animals always gave him the patience and unconditional love that he deserved.
To honor Connor's memory, our family has decided to install a legacy bench in his name at the King County dog park near our parents' home. We envision this bench as a place where Connor's spirit can live on, surrounded by the animals he loved and those who share his passion for pets.
Creating a legacy bench involves a donation to the King County Parks service, and we're hoping to make this tribute to him possible by his 27th birthday on October 18th, 2024. Any additional funds raised will go to Rebuild Recovery or Battlefield Addition, a sober living home that helped Connor get back on his feet these last 8 months and provided him with a supportive community and endless encouragement.
Connor's gentle and thoughtful nature will be deeply missed, but through this bench, his memory will continue to bring comfort and joy to others. Thank you for considering a contribution and for the love and support you've shown our family during this difficult time.
