Connie's obituary
Connie is survived by her husband, Dennis Ewert, her daughter, Anna Frank, her two granddaughters, Madelyn and Mila Frank, and her sisters, Valerie Schilling and Sharon (Ken) Harder. Connie is preceded in death by her parents, Eli and Alice Schilling.
Connie grew up spending her summers with her Aunt Betty and Uncle Bob on their farm in Shawano, WI. She would say that it was there where she had her best summer memories. After graduating high school, she went on to attend UW-Oshkosh for a couple years before meeting her future husband, Dennis. Dennis and Connie were married for over fifty years. The couple moved to the Milwaukee area and eventually purchased a hobby farm in Mukwonago, WI. Connie had many different jobs over the years, including working at the phone company and bookkeeping.
Connie became a mother to Anna in 1980, and it was then that she decided to devote her time and energy fully to Anna. Anna would describe her mother as "the most amazing mother any girl could hope for.” Once Anna was a toddler, Connie took on double duty. On top of being a very attentive and involved mother, she worked full time on the hobby farm and worked two part-time bookkeeping positions. In her limited spare time, she enjoyed caring for a garden and cooking. Somehow, she always managed to have a delicious home cooked meal on the table every evening.
Connie was known by all as being consistently kind and selfless. She could be easily described as a "gentle soul.” Connie always had a smile or a kind word for those around her. She never was judgmental or raised her voice (although Anna would say she may have warranted a raised voice from time to time). Connie loved life and especially enjoyed seeing others loving life. She was known to always have her camera out and tried to capture every precious moment life had to offer.
Connie was a devoted Christian who faithfully attended her church along with her daughter, Christ Lutheran, located in Big Bend, WI. She volunteered often at the church and Anna's school. Anna remembers her mother as always being on the "go,” often going to bed at midnight after waiting for her husband to come home from second shift. She would then get up at 5:00 a.m. the next morning to tend to the duties of the next day. Anna also remembers treasured movie nights where she would often have to wake up her exhausted (and snoring) mother.
Connie's twin granddaughters, Madelyn “Maddie” and Mila where the light of her life and biggest bragging point when with friends or family. She spoiled them rotten, as she had with her daughter Anna over the years. She spent every moment she could with them, often bringing over some type of present whenever she visited. Maddie and Mila loved their "Grammy" and have many blessed memories of time with her.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 10th, 2019, from 10:00am to 11:00am, with a memorial service starting promptly at 11:00am, at Star of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, located at 3700 S. Casper Dr., New Berlin, WI 53151. A luncheon will follow.
