Connie "Buddy" Cephas Coles, Jr. was born August 19, 1934 to the late Arie and Connie Cephas Coles, Sr., and fell asleep in death on August 24, 2020. Connie was preceded in death by his two sisters, Betty Jean Archer and Gloria Winston, and brother, William "Bill" Coles.

Connie graduated from John M. Gandy High School. After graduating from High School he attended Virginia Union University. He also drove the School Bus for Hanover County at just 17 years old. In his early secular career, he held positions with well known entities such as Richfood, Reynolds Metal, and Laird’s Nursery, which is where he obtained his landscaping skills. This inspired him to pursue his lifetime dream of becoming an entrepreneur, and starting his own landscaping business. His dream of successful entrepreneurship was fully realized when he established his residential/commercial and construction debris removal company under the name Connie's Disposal Service, Inc. in 1976. While the company was based in Hanover County, VA, expansion eventually reached the surrounding counties and crossed state lines into North Carolina . Connie's Disposal Service was widely known for their motto “Let’s Talk Trash”, as well as their reliability and competitiveness in the construction industry. For 34 years he led this successful business, and had the reputation for hiring hard working men, giving several of them a second chance at life. Because Connie’s Disposal was a family-run business, all of his children and grandchildren had the privilege of learning the business and becoming successful business-savvy professionals and tradesmen as well. Connie’s strong work ethics left a lasting impression, especially, on his grandchildren.

Connie was at times a man of few words but had a sharp sense of humor and loved to laugh. Over the years he enjoyed fishing, traveling, and his favorite past time was bowling. He was exceptionally generous and kind-hearted and took pride in caring for his family. He is affectionately remembered for never stepping out of the house without wearing a cap.

In the summer of 1960 Connie met the love of his life, Elizabeth. It was love at first sight. After laying eyes on her one time he told his mother about her and said, "She's a cute lil thing!" After a whirlwind courtship of several months they married on March 24, 1961. Their union produced three beautiful children whom he deeply loved and treasured. Connie was a faithful lifetime member of the Jerusalem Baptist Church of Manakin-Sabot, and raised his family to have Christian values.

Connie passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his primary caregivers, his beautiful bride Elizabeth and their grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Morris and Angie.

Connie leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Coles; three children, Connie Coles III, Karen (Jeffrey) Grimes, Carla Coles; five grandchildren Latisha (Clarance) Seaborn, Morris (Angela) Grimes, Terrence Chester II, Lamar Coles, and Tiera Coles; and his great grand-daughter, Keira Grimes. He is also survived by two sisters, Mae Winston, Glenda (Howard) Leabough; three sisters-in-law, Beverly Wright, Louise (Victor) Thomas, and Dorothy Coles, as well as a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
