Lumbo's obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the untimely passing of Columbus "Lumbo" Brooks, affectionately known to many as Lumbo. Born on November 22, 2004, Lumbo was called to his eternal resting place on July 5, 2023, at the tender age of 18.
A beacon of youthful vitality and potential, Lumbo was best recognized for his goofy and intelligent nature, demonstrating an innate curiosity that was truly endearing. He was a compassionate, caring, protective, and generous soul who profoundly touched countless lives with his forgiving and loving demeanor. Lumbo's life lessons and the values he stood for, primarily those of grace, empathy, and forgiveness, will forever resonate with those who had the privilege of knowing him.
In his short life span, Lumbo achieved significant milestones. He was a proud high school graduate and a compassionate soul whose empathy knew no bounds. His legacy, a rising powerhouse for youth empowerment, will continue to flourish and inspire the generations to come.
Lumbo is survived by his sister, Athenia Cyrus, his brother, Garrett Smith, and his father, Columbus Brooks. They, along with numerous other relatives, friends, and loved ones, mourn his loss while celebrating his impactful life.
A gathering to remember Lumbo will be held at Perkins Park on July 13, 2023, at 2:00 PM. Later in the day, another gathering at Perkins Park will take place at 7:46 PM. A Funeral service will be held at St Luke AME Zion Church at 10:00 PM. We invite all who knew and loved Lumbo to join us in honoring his bright, yet brief, journey on this earth.
