Annie's obituary
Collita Anne Minor, known to most as Annie, was born in North Carolina in 1931. A true Southern woman, she was full of tenacity, charm and dignity. Aways dressed to the nines, Annie took life by the reigns and was a true character of her virtues. She lived in various parts of the south and northeast and married Joseph Robert Minor in 1966. They eventually made Florida their permanent home in Winter Park then Winter Springs where they spent the majority of their lives. Joe and Anne remained by each other’s side until his passing in 2020.
Civic minded, Annie shared her time as an election worker at local polling sites. She also devoted many years to the School System making sure the kiddos were fed well. Most notably, she was the Vice President of Elvis Presley’s fan club. Everyone who knew her, also knew of her “Elvis Room” at home which was adorned in all of her Elvis collectibles. She loved sharing stories not just of Elvis but of life’s journeys. Annie had a way with words and knew how to use them in any situation. She was strong willed and proud to always stand on her own, TCB (Taking Care of Business) especially in her elder years. Her humor and outlook on life carried her through the years and always kept everyone entertained and on their toes!
Annie believed in the strength and commitment to family and always spoke highly of her relatives, both living and in Heaven. She was known to have bonds to those who may not be related by blood, but by the power of love and friendship. That was not limited to just humans and included those with 4 legs too. She and Joe always had a pup and later, Annie would take pride in being a cat Mama. She became a magnet for kitties needing a good home, often taking care of strays that seemed to just appear on her doorstep and instantly love her, just like the human world did.
Annie was “looking forward to going Home” she told her family, prior to going on a vacation to visit her nieces in North Carolina where she peacefully passed at the age of 94 on the night of September 19th, 2025. Some of her last words included “I’m going to keep living my life until the good Lord takes me.” And that she did!
She is survived by her nieces Edna "Dinky" and Harriett, daughter Teruko, grandchildren Eric (Jeanine) and Erika (Jenny) and her dear beloved kitty Suki along with numerous friends-who-became-family: Pamela, Michelle, Keith, Frank, Lynn, Beate, Barbara, Don, Debi, and neighbor Michelle to name a few. She leaves behind an amazing legacy of a Life well lived full of shoes, purses, stories, laughter, joy and most of all, deep and unconditional love, Honnney!
