Collin's obituary

Collin Ivory Bickford, 76, of Abbot, passed away on June 11, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.

Collin was born on September 22, 1944 to Ivory and Elizabeth (Mitchell) in Dover Foxcroft. After graduating from Piscataquis Community High School in 1962, he went on to enlist in the United States Air Force.

While stationed in the Air Force he met his future bride Karen T. (Brinken) in Mountain Home Idaho and they were married in 1968 in Spokane WA. They returned to Maine in 1969 settling in Monson where they raised their four children; Beth Ann, Carl Wendy and William.

After his time in the Air Force, Collin was a long time employee of Moosehead Manufacturing in Monson, Maine. Collin also served as a member of the Monson Volunteer Fire Department for seventeen year and acted as chief for ten.

After retiring in 2007, Collin spent his time creating wood crafts in his workshop, gardening, farming, attending auctions, volunteering many hours at The Partnership Food Bank in Guilford and Greenville, helping his family and friends with odd jobs and spending time at his favorite place; the camp on Greenleaf Pond. Collin remained active and maintained his strong work ethic right up until the end. Now it’s time for a rest, as all his chores are done.

Collin was predeceased by his parents, wife Karen and brother Robert. He is survived by his daughter Beth Ann White, Son Carl and wife Jennifer, daughter Wendy Cupero, Son William and wife Kelly. Three grandchildren, Cassidy Vachon, Grace Bickford and Elijah Bickford. Two brothers James and Mark.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the camp on Greenleaf. Donations in Collin’s memory may be made to Northern Light Cancer Care Lafayette Family Cancer Institute in Brewer, Maine, where he received wonderful care. The Family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks, especially to Dr. Pasquale, as well as the nurses and caregivers from Northern Lights Health and Lafayette Family Cancer Institute.
