After retiring in 2007, Collin spent his time creating wood crafts in his workshop, gardening, farming, volunteering for the local food cupboard; where he served many hours for his community, helping his family and friends with odd jobs and spending time at his favorite place, camp on Greenleaf Pond. Collin remained active and refused to slow down right up until the end with chores that just could not wait as he was proud of his hard work ethic and service to others.
