On Sunday, March 12, 2023, Colleen Wood of Fort Worth, Texas, mother of three, passed away at the age of 83.

An avid reader and lover of the arts, Colleen earned her Master’s Degree in Special Education and Administration and spent over 30 years in the education system before retiring from Birdville ISD as an Asst. Principal of Haltom High School. Colleen loved teaching and working with the students. During her years as an educator she taught HS English and Drama, Special Education, and HS Counselor before becoming a Asst Principal.

Colleen was born on July 10, 1939 and grew up on a farm near Hobart, Oklahoma. She loved driving the tractor and would rather have been outside doing chores than inside doing chores.

Colleen got married to her HS sweetheart, Toby Wood. They were married for 39 years.

Colleen was a private person, strong and independent woman. Her greatest achievement had to be how she raised her children to be strong, creative and independent. Colleen was a very proud and loving mom. She was their number one fan!

Colleen is survived by her daughter, Tanna Wood and her wife Holly Gatlin, her son Trent Wood and his wife Brigitte and their daughters, Laurel and Sarah. Her brother Ronnie Cribbs and his family.

Colleen is preceded in death by her son, Bruce Wood and her parents, Howard and Emogene Cribbs.

A Celebration of Life “ Love for Mom” will be held

Friday, March 31, 2023 at Bruce Wood Dance Gallery from 4:30pm -6:30pm.
