Colleen's obituary
Colleen May Suggs, 82, passed away on August 21, 2025, in Madras, Oregon, near her son Dewayne, at the age of 82. Born in Iowa to Helen and Gordon Arnett and raised in Sioux City, South Dakota, Colleen carried a lifelong love for family, faith, and service.
She studied at UNLV and worked in the medical field as a dental and optometry assistant, later joining her sister Kathy at a title company. Colleen spent most of her life in Las Vegas, where she raised her children with Jerry and lived near her son Norman and his family. She later married Cecil “Gus” Suggs and they shared a happy life together until his passing in 2016.
Family was Colleen’s greatest joy. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gus; and her sister, Kathleen “Kathy” Arnett. She is survived by siblings Perry Arnett, Chuck (Jean) Arnett, and Mike (Becky) Arnett; children Dewayne (Mandy) Weaver and Norman (Janine) Weaver; grandchildren Brian (Bri), Jordan, Josh (Kendra), Rebekah (Simon), Julia (Steven), Lydia, and Jacob; and great-grandchildren Addie, Connell, Kinley, and Kayden.
Guided by her faith, Colleen loved singing in the church choir, listening to classical music, gardening—especially her roses, irises, and orchids—and cooking family favorites like cake roll, mac and cheese, pecan pie, and dilly bread.
She gave generously of her time and love, leaving a legacy of kindness and warmth that will be remembered by all who knew her.
