Colin's obituary

Colin Patrick Meehan 10/9/1959 - 5/22/2022 (age 63)

Woonsocket, Rhode Island

(Formerly of Glocester, RI)

Loving Father, Son, Brother, Uncle & Friend, Colin Meehan died on Sunday, May 22, 2022, in peace.

All whom knew Colin Meehan were affected by his happy, caring, helpful and jovial personality, which will be forever remembered in his memory. Colin’s huge smile made it easy for all to take up a conversation with him in just about any topic. Being the youngest of five brothers and the sixth child in a family of seven children, Colin loved his big family.

Colin grew up in Glocester, attended St Philip School and La Salle Academy. From a young age, Colin was a born entrepreneur; beginning in his early teens with his paper route throughout the local neighborhoods. Shoveling snow each winter for the elderly and always willing help anyone in need. Like all of his brothers, Colin grew up learning to skate and play hockey on the family’s pond every winter, baseball in the spring and summer and football each fall. Besides being very athletic, he was very artistic in nature. He loved working on car engines and then driving cars, especially his 1966 Montero red body with a pearl white convertible/interior, 5 speed on the floor Pontiac GTO. Colin had an “eye” for creating beauty; knowing how to deliver just what people would like. Colin had a fantastic landscaping business, creating gorgeous lawns, yards and landscape, Colin also had a Pavers business were he created breathtaking patios, driveways, walkways and the like. In all of his creative endeavors, Colin expressed himself fully, a true artist in his own right. He was also a self-taught chef. Working as a chef in his own family’s restaurant business for many years and eventually owning his own successful restaurant, the Wayland Square Diner, on the East Side of Providence.

Colin was the proud father of a son, Jamison Meehan. born Christmas Eve 1991. The joy, pride, happiness, and love that was present that special day and throughout Jamison’s life was evident by the beautiful smile that covered Colin’s Irish face. Colin’s pride for his son, transcended through family and friends as he proudly boasted about his amazing son Jamison, as any loving father would. The two would love to tease each other; laugh, wrestle, play soccer and roll around with their big fluffy dog Chumley. Before Colin’s passing, he was able to meet his granddaughter, as she entered this world with her big bright eyes and beautiful loving smile.

Colin had a beautifully warm and cozy home in Woonsocket, that he truly enjoyed constantly upgrading & of course, entertaining his dinner guests. Colin was an extremely hard worker and always wanted to make others very happy.

Colin leaves behind many friends from every walk of his life, his son Jamison and newly born granddaughter, brothers Jim and Brian, sisters Patrish and Sharon, and all other additional immediate family, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In loving memory (predeceased Colin) his parents, James (Jim) & Muriel Meehan, and two brothers, John and Kevin Meehan.

To the Salt of the Earth and the Light of the Word, we thank you for your presence in our lives. As we all go forth without you, may your light shine within each one of us everyday. We love you!
