Colin's obituary

Colin Gerard Bucca, age 61, passed away on April 25, 2020 in Queens, New York. He is survived by his wife of over 18 years Janet Bucca, and two step daughters Jessica Pierson and Michelle Gallagher, and grandchildren Jake and James Gallagher.

Colin was born in Brooklyn, New York, the oldest son of Carmen Bucca and Dorothy McQuillan both deceased, and survived by his brother, Christopher Bucca and three sisters Adriann Scotto, Daria D'Elia and Caren Bucca.

He graduated Saint Francis Prep. and studied at Baruch College and then began working for Xerox as a technician and customer account associate. He was considered "The Guy" in his repair territory in Manhattan.

Colins' desire to be a part of the community was endless. He was a member of the Cypress Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corp. He later joined the Woodhaven/Richmond Hill Ambulance Corp. and was a dedicated member. His duties included being an EMT, Dispatcher, Motor Vehicle Operator, and Sargent at Arms until they closed the Woodhaven branch in 2014. He was a member of the Gallon Club with the New York Blood Center until his health affected his ability to donate. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus, and was a member and supporter of the The Woodhaven Block Association. Colin was a card-carrying member of the NRA.

Colin was well known for his love of all things electronic and tech related, and was a licensed HAM radio operator. He was a CB radio operator, and was a well-known member of the local CB community. Colin was a proud member of The National Association for Amateur Radio under the call sign of KC2COW. He had an affinity for anything that illuminated, and became positively giddy when he found flashlights that gave off more than a million lumens.

Colin was an avid sci-fi fan, a devoted grandfather and ham radio aficionado. He was a toilet humorist and storyteller. He could belch the alphabet. He was kind, and angry, and steadfast. He was a non-judgmental listener who kept confidences and withstood multiple ventings. He owned fast, ballsy cars with ridiculous horns and lights. He was proud of his house and even more proud of his home. He loved his daughters. He loved his grandkids. He loved.
