It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Coleen "Rene" Shireman, on June 23, 2024 at age 68. Rene was born December 5, 1955, in Owosso, Michigan, daughter of the late Robert and Betty Velat. She was a nurse at Sparrow Hospital for 20 years and loved music, crafting, traveling, and spending time with her family. She was a member of Christ the King Anglican Church and the Work of Christ Community. A strong Christian, Rene's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She had a servant's heart and a love for children, dedicating many years to youth ministry.

She is survived by her husband, Tim, and children Garrett (Gina), Mariah (Shawn), and Audrey (Dylan), and grandchildren Corbin, Cindel, Colin, and Cirdan, and siblings William (Kelly), Roxanne (Craig), and Jennifer. 

Rene's legacy is one of love, faith, and service. She had a zest for life, a strong spirit, and will be profoundly missed.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 6th, 2024 at 11:00 am with a viewing beginning at 10:00 am at Palmer Bush and Jensen Funeral Home, 6301 W St. Joe Hwy, Lansing, MI 48917. The family will receive friends at Palmer Bush on Friday, July 5th, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 pm.
