Cody Nelson Sanders, 28, of Westland, Michigan, passed away on August 13, 2023. Cody was born on December 1, 1994, in Detroit, Michigan. He was a beloved son, brother, and friend.

Cody was known for his sweet and caring nature. He had a great sense of humor and always knew how to bring a smile to the faces of his loved ones. He always wanted to make the world a better place and he had great visions. His warm personality touched many lives, and he will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his mother, Michelle Sanders, his father, Christopher A. Sanders, his sister, Ashley Sanders, and his maternal aunt, Danielle Faunce. And yet, as the pages of life turn, we must acknowledge the bittersweet truth that Cody's journey transcends our earthly realm. Cody has now joined his maternal grandmother, Diana Shannon, his paternal grandfather, Christopher S. Sanders, and his paternal grandmother, Doris Gerrior, and will not be alone for his next journey.

A gathering to celebrate Cody's life and share memories will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023, from 12 pm to 2 pm at the Duzak Funeral Home located at 16600 W Warren Ave, Detroit, MI 48228. Family and friends are invited to attend this special occasion before Cody is cremated.

As we bid adieu to Cody's earthly form, let us remember that life, like Plath's verse, is a delicate dance of light and shadow. Though his physical presence has faded, his essence lingers in the hearts of all who were touched by his brilliance.
