Clifton Joseph Buck-Kauffman
November 18, 1946 - October 5, 2024
Clifton Joseph Buck-Kauffman, 77, of Cotati, California, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 5, 2024. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Clif was the eldest of ten children and grew up in Berkeley, California. He graduated from Berkeley High School, Class of 1964.
In the early 1970s, Clif took over the family farm in Cotati where he later opened a recording studio with his brother Steve. The studio eventually became Prairie Sun Recording Studios.
A former Conscientious Objector, Clif was deeply committed to his community. He served as chair of the Cotati Community Service Commission and was a board member of both the Chamber of Commerce and the Cultural Arts Council of Sonoma County. Additionally, he co-founded the Cotati Accordion Festival in 1991 and produced the event for 14 years.
Clif had a passion for adventure, traveling off the beaten path, from trekking in India and visiting remote villages in Papua New Guinea to ex. He regularly attended Reggae on the River and Burning Man. More recently, Clif spent several years living in Vietnam, where he met and married his wife, Sahara.
Clifton was predeceased by his brothers Kurt Kauffman and Steve Buck, and his sister Lise Kauffman. He is survived by his wife, Sahara; daughters Lara Glassman and Kimberly Buck; granddaughter Audrey Glassman; brothers Stuart Buck and Bill Kauffman; sisters Mary Buck, Virginia Chenillo, Suanne Kauffman, and Andrea Block; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Clif lived a full and adventurous life and will be remembered and missed by many.
