Clifford's obituary

On February 4th, 2021, my husband and love of my life, Clifford E. Waid, 74, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,.  He passed peacefully in his home in Lancaster, SC, with his wife Dominica (Nikki) Waid, his wife of 30 years by his side.
     For over a year he fought bravely stage 4 lung cancer which had spread to his brain.  He was courageous and kind and longsuffering.
  Born to his parents on July 18th, 1946, in San Diego Ca., mother, Hazel Lewellen Hicks preceded in death and father, Clifford Norvin Waid, preceded in death. He was a soldier in the Army from 1965 to 1967.  He was lucky as on the same day he received orders for Vietnam he was also given orders to go to Germany.  God was watching out for him and he went off to Germany.  He is his mothers only son. known to her as, "Sonny Boy".  He was a Patriot to the end and loved his country.  He achieved rank of E4.
     After returning home to California, he married and had three children.  He worked as a gas station attendant where he met Slim Pickins and many other Hollywood stars.  He worked a day as a strawberry picker, learned to assemble school desks, worked making orthopedic limbs and later got a job for many years at Pacific Smelting and Refining Company.  In 1979 he moved his young family to Los Lunas, NM.    There he worked at several jobs, Carlers meat pkg, plant oasa mechanic, Bills Diagnostics as a mechanic.  After a short stint at these he went in to business for himself for 25 years, as "Ed's Automotive and Machine Shop Service.  He knew everyone in the county from the mayor on down.  Fixed school buses, and mail trucks and built racking engines for the local boys IMCA and insulation machines for Ray Sego's insulation.  My husband was a Jack of All Trades and master of all. He loved to build and figure out how things worked since he was a kid.  He was known to all as Ed.  I called him my MIB, "Mechanic in Blue".  Ed was a friend to all.  Never a harsh word.  Loyal, kind, humble, faithful, and longsuffering .
If  he didn't have one or couldn't  buy  it he made it.
     He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Dominica (Nikki) Waid.  Ed was the love of my life.  My best friend.  God brought us together Ed said and he was right.
     Also survived by his two sons Clifford E. Waid, JR>, 51 of Peralta, NM, auto body man and auto sales and service,  his wife Karrie Waid and grandchildren Joshua West of Missouri, Chantel Elizabeth of Michigan, Gabriel, Jessicea, Jacob, Brittney, Jasmine and Mattie Waid,.
      Mark A. Waid, his youngest son, truck driver, great guitarist, all around good guy and best BSer .  He and his father spent many hours BSing.  His wife, Angelica WAid, artist and marketing degree, mother, wife and great gal, grandsons Brandon Garcia of Albuquerque, NM and his great granddaughters, Ilyana and Isabella, Markie A. Waid, Jr., and wife Juliandra.  Sons Christian Garces and twin sons Daniel and Lucas Garces,
      Preceded in death by his youngest and only daughter at age 29, Patricia Ann Waid, of Albuquerque, NM and her son Michael Alexander.  She was onry and sweet, beautiful and smart.   
     Our grandchildren knew Ed as "Fix-It Grandpa"., our sons knew him as Pop.  Mark says, " His father was his hero, a Patriot, a follower of Christ and by far his best friend.  Will feel the lose already but we know we are assured to be reunited again with him in heaven.. Love you Pop.  To My Love Ed... forever.
