My condolences to Cliff's families. Cliff and I were first cousins, our mothers were sisters. My family moved to Idaho when I was 14, and we stayed with Cliff and his family for a while. Cliff and I became good friends and spent many memorable times together camping and fishing. Eventually we wound up living about a mile from each other along State Street, in Boise. When we were seniors in high school, we both enrolled in the Idaho Air National Guard and were in boot camp together in San Antonio, TX. Shortly after we had enrolled and gotten our uniforms, we received a very early phone call from the ANG
initiating an alert, and to report
asap. I will never forget that drive. Cliff picked me up and
we ran every red light on the way to Garrison Field. After arriving we found out we were not expected to do that; about an hour later everyone else started arriving. Cliff was Best Man at our wedding. We went deep sea fishing with Cliff and his dad at Waldport Bay, WA. My wife and I visited Mazatlán several years ago and had a wonderful reunion with Cliff and Eva. In the past few years, we have been exchanging e-mails. I will miss Cliff very much. but have very happy memories.
