Clifford's obituary

Clifford “Cliff” Houston, a hardworking family man and devoted father, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 69 on February 16, 2025. He was found at the Red Roof Inn, bringing a sudden and heartbreaking end to a life marked by dedication and resilience.

Cliff spent many years pushing steel at the plant, providing for his family with an unshakable work ethic. He was a man of quiet strength, deeply loyal to those he loved. After the passing of his beloved wife, Diane, in 2017, he found solace in raising miniature Schnauzers, a passion that brought him great joy.

When he wasn’t working or tending to his dogs, Cliff could be found cheering on his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr. His love for NASCAR ran deep, and race day was always a sacred tradition.

He is survived by his son, Rodney, and his daughter, Linda, both of whom carry on his legacy of perseverance. He is also survived by his brothers, Henry (Hank) Houston and Herb (Dick) Houston, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.

Cliff will be remembered for his love of family, his hard work, and the small joys that made his life meaningful.

A service to honor Cliff’s life will be celebrated this summer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the NASCAR Foundation.
