Cliff's obituary
In Loving Memory of Cliff Budd: October 30, 1954 - February 19, 2026
Clifford "Cliff" Budd passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of deep love, resilience, and life lived with passion and purpose. He was 71 years old.
Cliff was a devoted and faithful husband to his beloved wife Gem, whom he loved with his whole heart. Together, they built a life grounded in love, strength and unwavering support.
He was an incredibly proud father to Matt and Joei, and a loving stepfather to Vianca and Verril. His pride and joy extended to his cherished granddaughter Ava and daughter-in-law Jeni. Cliff never missed an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of those he loved. He carried their successes as if they were his own.
Cliff loved being a father and grandfather. He showed his love not just in words, but in action, through sacrifice, guidance and an unwavering presence. He worked hard to give his children a good life and instilled in them the importance of education, hard work, and choosing their paths wisely. He wanted nothing more than for them to live happy, safe and meaningful lives.
A true lover of nature, Cliff believed deeply in respecting the earth and all its creatures. He saw nature as sacred and taught those around him to care for their bodies, live cleanly, and appreciate the beauty of the world. Whether it was a sunrise, a breeze off the water, or a quiet moment outdoors, he found peace in the natural world.
Cliff was a legend when it came to fishing. The ocean was his sanctuary. He often said it was the last frontier. He had salt water in his veins and a deep reverence for the sea. Fishing wasn't just a hobby, it was part of who he was. Whether casting a line or simply breathing in the ocean air, he felt most alive near the water.
He also had a love for music, especially blues, and rarely drove without it playing in the background. He was a wine aficionado who appreciated good food, good company, and the simple pleasures of life. He loved to laugh, and was a big fan of the late John Pinette, he could watch his performances over and over and still laugh just as hard every time. He found joy in the little things, especially time spent with family.
Cliff also shared a special bond with Coco, his beloved Golden Shepherd, who brought him comfort, companionship, and joy. He cherished their time together deeply, and Coco was truly part of his heart and home.
Cliff was a fighter. Despite significant health challenges over the years, he never stopped pushing forward. He faced adversity with strength and determination, always holding on to his love for life, his family and the hope of more time with them. More than anything, he wanted to live to fish, to laugh, to be with those he loved and to feel the ocean breeze once more.
He will be remembered as a man who loved fiercely, lived boldly, and gave everything he had to the people he cared about. Though he is no longer with us , his spirit lives on, in the sound of the waves, the rhythm of music, and the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
We invite all who knew and loved Cliff to honor his memory by sharing cherished photos, stories, and moments spent with him. Your memories will help keep his spirit alive and remind us all of the impact he had on so many lives.
Every time we look out at the ocean, we will know he is there at peace, smiling and forever free.
Cliff will be deeply missed, always loved, and never forgotten.
