Just heard if the sad news. You are a wonderful man! Thanks for your help in 1987. Glad we reconnected 20 years later! Your laughters will always be heard my good man. Miss you!!…
My husband and I were at USL with Gene.  My first vote ever cast on a voting machine was for him as SGA president.  On my deathbed, I will still remember "Sweep the state in '88, Clevis Eugene  Broussard for governor!" My other memory is also from that tune.  My first flight was from Lafayette to Lake Charles (on the way home to Arkansas).  It was an overbooked flight on Trans Texas Airlines.  And three people were standing or sitting in the aisle.  It was a very long time ago, kiddies.  And one of the standees, was Gene Broussard.  Thank you, for some wonderful memories.

The attached letter was sent to me in 1988 when Gene helped us with the adoption of my daughter, Ashley.   He basically said in the letter that is the invoice wasn’t paid in ten days he would have my daughter seized and sold at a Sheriff’s sale!  He was a nice friend and alway fun to be around.

RIP

I remember the first two words over the phone when I visited him in the late 80s for an internship at his office. I was forwarded by his secretary Sandra and he greeted me with: "Heil Hitler". I was kind of speechless.

Back then I wasn't aware that we would become life -long friends.

My friend I miss you.

How can someone I saw maybe 4 times in the last 45 years summon up such a sense of loss at his passing?  He was surrounded by a force field you could sense a mile away. It's got to still be going strong somewhere in the universe.
