Claudia's obituary
In the early 1970’s Claudia became the President of the Agawam Center Library Association and began working outside the home first as a teller at Third National Bank (later Bank of New England-West) then as Head Teller. In May 1984 she became a Branch Manager after serving for a year as Assistant Branch Manager. Later she served as a Customer Service Officer until her retirement in May 1993. After retiring for a while she took a job as a teller with Peoples Bank in Longmeadow and continued there until her second retirement in Summer 2003.
In the late 1980’s Claudia was a member of the 1990 Chicopee Centennial/Westover Celebration Committee. This group was responsible for planning, organizing and executing a number of special events which were held throughout the year 1990. Because of her dedication and hard work she received many commendations and kudos.
In June 1991 Claudia married Larry Conti of Springfield, MA. Throughout her life Claudia loved spending time with family and friends, reading, eating (and cooking), being outdoors, taking walks. She loved dogs and cats no matter to whom they belonged. She, along with Larry and at times family and friends enjoyed traveling the world seeing England, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Holland, Croatia, the Baltic region, Mexico, Jamaica, Central America, and the Caribbean. She also enjoyed exploring the wilds of California, both north and south as well as Maine, Florida, New York, Wisconsin, and Arizona.
In her younger days Claudia enjoyed hiking, skiing, and painting. She enjoyed decorating in her original eclectic style making her home a warm and comfortable gathering place for many guests over the years. She enjoyed everything “houses” whether her own, her doll house with its dollhouse furniture or her collection of miniature houses. After she retired she took writing classes and used this as a springboard to write her autobiography, It’s Me! In her final years she enjoyed having the Bible read to her as well as her autobiography, and loved to peruse her photo albums.
She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Larry Conti of Longmeadow, MA; sons, David (Cindy) Harriman, of Mesa, AZ, Michael Harriman of Northampton, MA and Nate (Kim) Harriman of Scituate, MA; eight grandchildren, Caleb (MoonSun Choi) Harriman, Heidi (Jesse) Simonton, Ian (Brianna) Harriman, Gala Harriman, Noah Harriman, Jake Harriman, Anneliese (Alexander) Patócs, and Annie Harriman; six great grandchildren; and sister, Susan Raymond of Paradise, CA. Besides her parents she is predeceased by her sister Judith Leonard of Harwich, MA and brother Len Fulton of Paradise, CA.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Chandler Post Acute and Rehabilitation and Hospice of the Valley for their care of our Mom.
