Claudia's obituary
Claudia Castro, lovingly known as Cloud, sadly passed away on March 25, 2023 after a long battle with Early Onset Alzheimer’s disease. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. Born on July 19, 1964 to Ray and Joyce Call of Suffern, NY. She was the oldest of their three children, with two younger brothers, Eric and Jeffrey. Claudia was known for her kind, gentle and sweet personality.
Claudia graduated Suffern High School in 1982 with honors. She continued her education at Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, FL. Claudia enjoyed her time living and studying in Florida and made life-long friends while at school. She graduated FIT in 1986, again with honors, and relocated to Miami to build a successful career working as a Technical Editor for a computer software company. There Claudia met her husband, Robert, settling in Coral Springs, FL to reside and raise a family.
Much of Claudia’s early years growing up and later years with family were spent at the family’s Adirondack lakeside home on Hadlock Pond. As a child of science teachers, Claudia developed a love of nature and all things water related. Claudia was an avid swimmer, hiker, fisherman, boater, and an outstanding water skier. Claudia had a passion for taking photos of the beauty and the joy of life and nature. She was rarely found in front of the lens, but always behind it capturing her family’s growth and smiles. Her photographs hang on the walls of Camp to this day. Claudia often reaped the rewards at the local orchards and berry farms in upstate NY. Claudia enjoyed making preserves and always prepared the family’s favorite breakfast of fresh blueberry pancakes.
Claudia is survived by her adoring husband, Robert, and their three children Paulina, Aren and Hannah. Claudia was preceded in death by parents Ray and Joyce Call, and brother Jeffrey. Claudia also leaves behind her brother and family, Eric, wife Lauren, and nieces Lily and Amelia.
Although Alzheimer’s took Claudia from us far too soon, her memory and impact on her friends and family will live on forever. Throughout her life, Claudia brought pure kindness to the people around her and her memory will continue through the countless lives she touched with her gentle spirit. She will be forever missed, but her love will never be forgotten.
