Claudette's obituary
Claudette Coleman (Lowe) was born on October 23, 1940 in Conroe, Texas. She died on December 22, 2021 in Austin Texas, of a sudden, catastrophic brain aneurysm. She took her last breath at home with friends and kin, in kind and comfortable hospice care.
She had two children: a daughter, Shelly, deceased; and Zachary, who along with his wife Dee survives her in Kingwood, Texas. She is also survived by two grandsons, Bennett, age 13 and Bryce, 10, who gave her the nickname Nonny some years past, but they soon shortened it to The Non, which delighted her. A sister, Rosemary Weinheimer and her two daughters live after her. Her parents, H. P. “Bo” Coleman and her mother, Claudie Belle Coleman, of Cleveland Texas, predeceased her.
She is also survived by Hugh, her husband of 57 years, plus five years of chasing her before that. She gave her all to all she knew, yet had that measure and more for him. He will tell you that they loved with a love that was more than love*, and so would she, if she were able.
Claudette graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. She taught high school in Robstown and San Antonio. She was a social worker in Austin, then a real estate broker. She was a devoted neighborhood activist. She died before she could give the evildoer developers a final thrashing.
COVID prevents a proper alcohol-fueled, boisterous, story-telling sendoff just now, but there will be one. It will probably be in the spring, time and place to be announced.
*Thank-you to Edgar Allan Poe.
