I had the privilege of call Clark my friend for over 60 years. Our friendship began when we were young officers in the U.S. Navy, second on the aircraft carrier USS Kearsarge. We went through 2 deployments to Vietnam together and experiences like that last a lifetime.
Over the years life took us in different directions. We did not see each as often as we would have liked, but we always stayed in touch.
60 years of friendship is something very special. I will always be grateful for the time we shared from our days at sea to the many years of staying connected afterwards.
The Clark Todd family will always hold a very special place in my heart.

Clark and Sally were one of the first friends we made when we moved to Hanover 5 years ago. We saw him regularly at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, where we attended a course with him and Sally on the English Reformation (given by our Rector.) Clark was a wonderful cook, a great conversationalist and a great friend. When you ate dinner at his house, you were assured of a lovely glass of champagne or prosecco, followed by a wonderful dinner. We sampled pheasant for the first time at his house, and it was a very special evening. He was a charming person, and we could see how devoted he was to Sally, and she to him.

To Sally and his family, my thought go back to meeting you and Clark on Samis island in Washington and discussing with you your move to Norwich. We were so happy to welcome you. Clark was a wonderful friend - fun, engaged, interesting and interested, and brave. We missed you and still do. Susan

We first met Clark and Sally on Samis Island, Washington State, five years ago; we were at an open house…and we hit it off right away. Clark’s told us he and Sally were moving to Norwich to be near their daughter. Marvelous…the four (Clark, Sally, Susan and me) then got together often once they were in Norwich. Clark was a master host at their home. He always opened a bottle of champagne and served wonderful hors-d’œuvres. And great conversations! Once we got carried away and started planning a horseback trip in France on a website we’d found…but the French host decided we were too old and wouldn’t book us. Shame. I will always treasure our times with Clark and Sally. I’m sure Clark is now sharing his best champagne with guests in heaven. I’ll always recall him warmly, especially when sipping a good champagne with friends!

I met Clark when he moved to Lima and attended LSH school for two years. We became friends and over the years he would get in contact with me about our reunions. Two years ago Clark and Sally made the trip and it was such a wonderful reunion for many of us to see and talk with Clark and Sally. Clark called this past fall and we talked a lot about friends he had met in Lima but unfortunately it was the last we talked. For many of us that knew him for such short time he left an impression on each of us for the time he was here and we are grateful to have known him. My thoughts and prayers for Sally and the entire family.

Clark and Sally were our next door neighbors in Norwich, Vermont. They were always warm and inviting and became our very dear friends. Clark was a delightful, generous, kind, well-read, and thoughtful man. We will miss him greatly. -- Jim and Judy Bernat

the best friend a person could ever have; a true gentleman; he leaves this world a better place than he found it; a true role model who will never be forgotten
