Claris's obituary

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Claris Rode (née Gray), a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother and cherished member of her community. Born in the year 1939, she passed away peacefully on the 7th of August, 2025 with loved ones near her. She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Cash (Brent) and Rebecca Eisemann and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Claris will be remembered by many for her unyielding southern hospitality. Known for never complaining and possessing an infectious laughter, she had a knack for brightening up any room she entered. She had an open heart and an open door, always ready to share a warm meal or lend a listening ear. Her kindness was not limited to her loved ones, but extended to her neighbors and friends, showing interest in their lives just as much as her own.

A funeral service in honor of Claris will be held on September 5, 2025, at 7:00 PM at the Highland Memorial Gardens. This will be a celebration of her life, filled with shared memories, love, and respect.  She will be laid to rest with her parents, grandparents and aunts where she wanted to be.

Claris loved the Chicago Cubs, and enjoyed friendly banters during baseball season. In her quieter moments, she liked to unwind with episodes from her favorite TV show, Law and Order.   She made it to levels of Candy Crush that outdid the programming.  BBQ held a special place in her heart, especially when shared with friends and family.

Her legacy of kindness, hospitality, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of her daughters, friends, neighbors, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
