Clary's obituary
Clarence George Leroy Sheppard
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Clarence,” Clary” George Leroy Sheppard. Clary passed away peacefully embraced in the loving arms of his devoted family on March 25, 2022, at the Halifax Infirmary. Clary will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by many. Clary was born on July 23, 1939, in Halifax to the late Joseph and Hilda Sheppard. Clary began his musical journey at the age of six when his mom bought him his first guitar from Eaton’s. When Clary wasn’t playing his guitar, he would be playing hockey (Goalie), baseball (Pitcher) and going on adventures with his many brothers and sisters. Clary enlisted in the army in London ON, where he played the glockenspiel. Clary earned his Electronics degree at the Kentville Vocational Institute and opened his own electronic repair shop in Halifax. After which he pursued a career at Metro Transit, as a bus driver and worked Finance Department until his retirement. Clary’s first passion was playing music, he played guitar, steel guitar, fiddle, banjo, and piano. He played hundreds of gigs and studio recordings. Anyone who knew Clary, may have been a victim to one of his practical jokes, he was a prankster, loved telling jokes and stories. As a jack of all trades, Clary could be under a car one minute and building a garage the next, and always had time to help his neighbors. Clary loved his Habs and nothing made him happier than watching his Grandson play hockey. Clary was a devoted father and husband and will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by many. Clary is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Dorothy, (Ellsworth) Sheppard, his daughters; Christine Sheppard, Susan Doherty, Sally (Joe) Crocker; grandchildren, Nicholas Dawson, Brian Crocker, Terri Crocker and Chantel Crocker, Nicky Doherty and Kyle Doherty and Courtney (Patrick) Bowden, and many great-grand children; also he is survived by brother Robert (Sheila) Sheppard, Sisters Sylvia Huett and Josey Levy, he was predeceased by brothers Howie Sheppard, Joseph Sheppard, David Sheppard, Paul Sheppard and John Sheppard. Clary will be deeply missed by many brothers and sisters in laws and nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. We would like to thank the exceptional doctors and nurses who cared for Clary. All are welcome to join in the Celebration of life, which will be held on Saturday April 2, 2022, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Sackville Legion at 45 Sackville Crossroads.
