Clarence's obituary
Clarence Leroy Lentz, Jr. died on Friday, August 5, 2022 at the Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb. He had recently become a resident of Summit and a member of First Baptist Church, Summit.
Clarence was born in Vicksburg on January 17, 1936 to Clarence Leroy Lentz and Elizabeth (Tudy) Lentz. After boyhood and youth in Vicksburg, he attended Mississippi College, attaining bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He married the former Jean Ray Johnson of Tupelo in 1959, and they were married for thirty-eight years. The couple lived in Jackson and had two daughters, Deleslynn and Lauren. They were longtime members of Calvary Baptist Church in Jackson, where Clarence was a deacon, choir member, and frequent teacher. He began his career as a classroom history teacher and then spent many years as the lead administrator for the Jackson Public Schools’ Title I program. After retirement from JPS, he became the business director for Calvary.
In 1996, Lentz moved to Missouri and shortly thereafter married the former Paula Noble. Clarence and Paula were married until his death.
Clarence was predeceased by his parents, his sister Margaret (Peggy) Smith, and his stepson Jason Parrish. He is survived by his wife Paula, his former wife Jean Lentz of Brandon, daughters Deleslynn Lentz Barlow (Chuck) of Brandon, Lauren Lentz of New York City, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by step-daughter Jennifer Parrish Whatley of Summit, six step-grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren.
