Clara's obituary

On Sunday December 20th, 2020 Clara Marie (Harlacher) Pettyjohn loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away at the age of 73. Virtual Services will be held on Wednesday, January 13th at 10:00 am.
She will be laid to rest with her loving husband at Veterans Memorial Cemetery, due to current gathering restrictions only children and spouses will be present at the cemetery service.

Clara was a dedicated mother and wife first and foremost. She treasured her children and husband and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Nana.

She was the loving & devoted mother to her children and their spouses: Tom and Becky Pettyjohn of Fischer, Tx; Tim and Joni Pettyjohn, Tina and Matt McVaugh, Trevor and Roz Pettyjohn from Arizona. As well as a devoted Nana to her 9 grandchildren: Amanda, Bryce, Tim Jr., Talby, Tyler, Meghan, Casey, Zack, and Levi.
She was born on December 3rd, 1947 to Ferdinand John and Mildred Alice Harlacher in Phoenix, Arizona and Met the love of her life Douglas Sisco Pettyjohn and married him in July 29th, 1970 and was preceded in death by him back in October 18th, 2009.

She had a generous, kind, loving and fun personality and was always ready to laugh at life’s misadventures and really looked for and appreciated life’s little joys and special moments.

She was an amazing homemaker who dedicated her life to making a warm and loving home, filled with homemade food and family togetherness. Her youthful spirit was wonderful at creating holidays to remember and you never wanted for anything as her generosity knew no bounds, she would share her last loaf of bread with someone who needed it. She loved a good joke so much that you were sure to hear more than once and even on the third telling she couldn’t finish it for her own laughter at the punch line. She loved to sing to a good song, watch her grandkids play, and sit in the gazebo surrounded by Papa's garden. She enjoyed a good book, a great song, and could throw a Yahtzee better than anyone. It was these small pleasures while surrounded by family that she took joy in and for what she will be remembered.

We are better spouses, kinder parents, and better individuals for having known her and she will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her.
