Cat's obituary
Clara “Cat” Padilla, 79, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, in Tiger, Georgia. Born on November 22, 1945, in Bogotá, she lived a life marked by deep faith, creativity, and a boundless love for her family and community.
Clara’s journey of faith began on February 4, 1976, when she became a Christian—a moment that shaped the rest of her life. A devoted member of Church of the Mountain, she found great joy in sharing her love for Jesus with others. Her spiritual journey even took her to Israel, a trip that held deep personal significance.
Known affectionately as “Cat,” Clara was a woman of many talents and passions. In her earlier years, she expressed herself through painting and sculpting. Her love for music and dancing brought joy to those around her, and she cherished vacations that allowed her to explore new places and create lasting memories.
Clara had an infectious wit and a positive outlook that uplifted everyone she encountered. Her giving spirit extended beyond her family into the broader community where she was known for her compassion and willingness to serve. Whether through church outreach or simple acts of kindness, Clara made it her mission to bring light into the lives of others.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters: Emily Mathey; Denise Verdin; and Ilana Chandler-Clark (Jason); as well as her stepdaughters: Michele Pierson; Stacy Chandler (Dawn Johnson); and Tonia Mann-Wooten (Allen). Clara also leaves behind two sisters: Patricia Stewart and Isabel Padilla Drevar. Her legacy continues through 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Guirellmo and Isabel Padilla; her sister Clemencia Padilla; brother Humberto Padilla; stepsons James “Jimmy” Chandler and Greg Chandler.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, 3:00 PM at Tabernacle Baptist Church, located at 6467 Highway 441 in Lakemont, Georgia (30552).
In honor of Clara’s vibrant spirit and favorite colors, guests are kindly asked not to wear black but instead dress in purples, reds, or greens. Clara “Cat” Padilla’s life was a testament to faith, creativity, service, and love. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
