On Saturday, Oct 24, 2020, Clara Florena Hines, our loving mother passed away at the age of 79.

Clara was the fourth child of a family of five born in Florence South Carolina to James Hines and Mattie Hines. Her thirst for adventure caused her to leave her family and bravely travel all over the country. While the course of her travels took her to Philadelphia, Atlanta, San Diego, and San Francisco; she managed to still pursue and complete her education (a BA from SF State) while raising two wonderful children . While on her adventures she met and touched various people from all walks of life, most notably Stokely Carmichael (as a secretary for Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee), Danny Glover (when he was struggling SF cab driver/actor), and Angela Davis (while continuing her education at SF State).

Clara was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves to mourn her death, her daughter, Stephanie Cobb, son, Stephen Willis, daughter-in-law, Maya, her sisters, Bertha Wilson and Alice Robinson and her brothers, James Hines and Roney Hines. She had a host of honorary children and grandchildren that she adopted along the way.
