Claire's obituary
Claire Marie Messer of Chanhassen, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly and far too soon on Friday, October 31st, 2025, at the age of 37. She was born on June 14th, 1988, Flag Day, and grew up in Chanhassen with her loving family and many beloved pets.
Claire brought so much joy to the world around her and to every person that crossed her path. She moved through the world with an infectious curiosity that was impossible not to share when you were with her. She had so many passions: rock hunting, animals, fossils, and art (photography, painting, crafting) to name just a few. But she brought that same passion and creativity to every aspect of her life. She loved being a stepmom. She loved to talk and to make new friends. She could have a meaningful conversation with any person she met. She approached her friendships with deep loyalty and trust, and was truly able to see the good in anyone.
Although Claire faced struggles in her life, she was still always thinking of others. If she made a painting she thought you would like or found a rock that made her think of you, she delighted in giving it to you. Her generosity and genuine kindness were part of who she was and how she interacted with the world and every person and animal she encountered.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jane (Fox) Messer; uncle, Kip Messer; aunt, Tammy Messer; uncle, Jack Fox; grandfather, William Messer; grandparents, Ralph and Geraldine Fox.
She is survived by her father, Tracy Messer; grandmother, Inez Messer; brother Wil Messer; dog, Layla; aunts, Sus Yavari, Tink Byrns, Carol Fox; uncles, Gary Fox, Mike Fox; loving cousins; and the many, many friends who loved her so dearly.
