Cinda's obituary

Cinda LaVerne Collier Grimes Marlow, 88, of Lumberton passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 7, 2021. Cinda was born November 19, 1932 in her family home in Port Neches, Texas to Carolyn Matilda Drake Collier and Jackson C. Collier and was the last surviving of four children.

It is never easy to sum up a life in words and paragraphs, but to sum of Cinda’s colorful and vibrant life that way is near impossible. Cinda was a vibrant and exuberant woman who loved to live life on the go and meticulously dressed for whatever the occasion. Cinda was arguably maybe the world’s greatest shopper and certainly a knowledgeable collector of fine jewelry – her rings in particular. A socialite and social butterfly, Cinda was friendly to everyone she met and so outgoing that she really never did meet a stranger. Active and dedicated to worthy causes, Cinda was a proud member of Woodsmen of the World, the Ladies’ Auxiliary of Beaumont, the Daughters of the Confederate, The Red Hat Society, and of course her beloved long-term church home One City Church of Beaumont. Talented and full of whit, Cinda worked as a legal secretary and administrative assistant to the Dean of Lamar University, in addition to her many obligations to organizations and her family. She loved to eat out with her beloved husband, Garland, almost as much as she loved spoiling her numerous grandchildren. Cinda truly lit up a room when she walked in and her loss will not soon be forgotten.

Cinda is survived by her husband of more than 20 years, Garland Lee Marlow of Lumberton; her daughters: Jessica Frazier and her wife Deborah Pedrotti of Groves, Belinda Leigh Frazier and her partner Rodney Thompson of Batson, and Verlyn Rae Frazier of Beaumont; her grandchildren: Stacie Simmons LaPointe and husband Timothy of Bridge City, Cinda Simmons Castle of Bridge City, Crystal Michelle Simmons of Conroe, Jaclyn Miller Carroway and husband Dustin of Beaumont, and Kyle Gene Chism of Kountze; her great-grandchildren: Haley LaPointe, Lana LaPointe Gordon and husband John, Robert Joseph LaPointe and wife Kayla Nicole Wall, Taylor Rae Duncan, Obie Michael Duncan, Logan Reese Ponder, Nicholas Gage Ponder, Addison Lynae Carroway, and Kolbie Michael Chism; her niece, Elena Collier Schmitt; as well as numerous great-great-grandchildren and other extended family members and friends.

Preceding Cinda in death are her parents, Carolyn Matilda Drake Collier and Jackson C. Collier; and her siblings: Elmer J. Collier, Ruby Savarino, and Vivian Block.

To honor Cinda's life, there will be a time of Visitation from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at One City Church, with Funeral Services to follow at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. Immediately following the services Burial will be at Oak Bluff Cemetery in Port Neches.

In consideration of the health and safety of the family, all social distancing practices and facial covering recommendations will be observed and enforced for all services. Thank you for your understanding.
