Christopher's obituary
Chris Zachariasse’s “best day ever” was a drive up a Colorado Canyon where he caught a couple fish then took a two-hour nap 6 inches from the creek on some soft pine needles in the shade.
Chris was born to the late Daniel Johnson and Jill Johnson on September 6, 1989 in Boise, Idaho. Days before his first birthday, his father tragically died in a car accident. Chris’s mother Jill raised him as a single mom for much of his life. At the age of 10 years old Chris was adopted by Jill’s second husband, Jan Zachariasse. Daniel’s genes grew strong in Christopher. Chris had a heart of gold, made you laugh, was incredibly kind, and was his mother’s greatest treasure, her world.
Chris attended Broad Run High School in Ashburn, Virginia graduating in 2007. He then studied Engineering at the University of Boulder in Colorado, and went on to become the Director of Operations at Downtown Boulder Partnership.
Chris loved to travel, fish, camp, and sail the Gulf of Mexico. He grew up with his cousins Alex, Ben, & Nate who he called his brothers.
Chris was preceded in death by his dad, Daniel Johnson, his grandparents James & Lovey Leier, and his dog Jane.
Chris is survived by his mom, Jill Zachariasse: “And she loved the little boy very, very much - even more than she loved herself”. Chris is also survived by his Auntie Nelly and Uncle John whom he considered VIPs in his life. Chris will be missed by his Colorado family and friends and his many aunts, uncles and cousins, who all love him very much.
A Celebration of Life will be determined at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the charity Trees for a Change (http://treesforachange.com) in Christopher’s name.
