If there is a word we had to pick, if could only use one word of the many for Chris, for me, it would be Joy. In everything Chris did, from the spectacular to what others might describe as mundane, he found Joy; and he would share it with you, with no hesitation, purely, and totally.  So you would feel it with him, and it would fill your heart with it also. All of us here, at all the different times of his beautiful life have experienced his Joy with him, and it is very obvious he helped us to live with more of it also.  What an incredible gift Chris gave us all. Aloha Bruddah; I will see you again.

Chris was always a really safe climber (in spite of the fact that we were often intoxicated). We always had the proper equipment and he studied the routs. With his strict safety consciousness he made for a great person to have at the other end of your rope.

Hosting Christmas Dinner with family; Chris always loved to entertain for family and friends with a great meal. He cooked so well that we don't go to restaurants.

On March 18, 9 years ago, JJ threw a Aloha themed surprise party for Chris's 50th birthday. I flew in fro So Cal and dressed up as a hula girl. I came out and hula danced and it took him quite a while to figure out who it was. It was a great party. Happy birthday Chris!
Chris was a great friend who knew how to listen deeply, and offer solace, compassion, and joy. He had a way of shining his spiritual awareness into mundane activities. We had many good times in nature, surfing, hiking, camping and rock climbing. He was a true soul surfer - keep climbing, my friend!

Really sad to miss my classmate at Groton. Such a great kid and seemingly a lovely adult too. I remember him in Zebra stripes as a football lineman.  A lovely soul. Rest in peace, my friend.

Skiing with Chris and JJ on a beautiful snowy day
Chris was a wonderful, kind, thoughtful, soft spoken person who was in my Groton Form of 1983. I had the privilege of spending some memorable time with him at our Groton reunions over the years as he was great about making the long trip from Vancouver to Groton. I always came away from our conversations with a sense of calm and connection. My family and I also were so fortunate to ski with Chris and JJ at Whistler just a couple months ago in January 2024 when he was seizing every moment as a gift. It was so inspiring and we were loved seeing JJ and Chris take care of each other minute by minute - a lovely couple! My heart is broken for Jessica and Chris’  family. We miss him dearly.
