Background
This site has been created by me, Constance Smith (aunt) as an EMERGENCY NEED to help his mother, Denise Smith-Ladd, to bury her son. Chris left us UNEXPECTEDLY Sunday, February 09, 2020. He was all alone and I shudder to think what his last thoughts were.
Chris had a trachea from a few years ago after suffering a heart attack, brain bleeding all of which left him in a coma for 35 days. His cousin (ride or die) visited him each and every day talking to him, rubbing his hand and determined he would pull out...and he did!
Christ texted me around 9:04 pm Sat. (02/08) asking that I take him Monday to pick up a medical form to gain authorization for at home doctor visits . He had a trachea and his only means of communication was texting.
Early Sunday morning I responded stating that I would take him to the doctor Monday. By mid-afternoon, neither me nor my sister had heard from Chris which was unusual. I suggested if we hadn't heard from him by 6pm she should call 911 and request a "Well Care Check".
Around 4:35pm his mother said "something's not right" and I told her to make the call. She learned the tragic news from the officer who arrived at the and he all alone when he passed away.
The officer called me because my sister was unable to speak or make head or tail about her son. I was told, which is only an safe theory pegged by the officer, that it appeared that he had a seizure, got up and tried to make it to his room. Chris was dealing primarily with diabetes and a few other illnesses.
I would like to say that whether you have been diagnosed as pre-diabetic, Type 2 or Type 1 diabetes. Here's the danger with this metabolic disorder:
Individuals with diabetes have too much glucose or blood sugar in their bloodstream which can negatively affect the whole body, including the cardiovascular system, circulation, eyesight and kidney function.
Diabetes is the silent killer. People with type 2 diabetes often have no symptoms at first. Make an appointment to determine if you are at risk! Contribute
