I will never be able to say the right thing. I’ll never be able to be the same. All I know, is my father was a good man. My father did everything he could to get me to school every day. Made sure I had absolutely anything I needed. He kept me happy. My father always had a joke to crack and a smile to share. He may not have been perfect, but he was great to me. He bragged about me all the time. He held me when I needed him. We got into the car the same. Got passive aggressive the same. I miss his voice. I miss his laugh. I miss him so, so much. I miss watching alien documentaries. I miss his snore.
If you are able, please visit my grandparents or reach out to them and let them know that they aren’t alone. They are crushed.
My father was the first person I came out to as transgender. My dad accepted me instantly. He said he kinda knew. My father loved and accepted me so much, I hope everyone gets to feel that kind of praise and love like I did. I was, and still am, so blessed.
All I can hope for is that everyone is respectful and understanding.
