Christopher's obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Christopher "Chris" Marciniak on January 22, 2024. Born on June 22, 1970, Chris, as he was affectionately known, was a man of great spirit and resilience.

Chris is survived by his loving children, daughter Alese Marciniak, and sons Nicklas and William Marciniak. His legacy will continue to live on through them. He is also survived by Laura Marciniak, his ex-wife who remained a significant part of his life. Chris' absence will be deeply felt by his brother, Kevin Marciniak, and his sister, Katrina Powis. He leaves behind his beloved aunts, Debbie Bueche and Vickie Simmons. He was preceded in death by his mother, Janis Marciniak; father, John Marciniak; grandmother, Wanetta Smiley; grandfather, Gordon Williams; and grandparent, Richard Smiley.

An alumnus of Lansing Community College, Chris graduated with an Associate's Degree in Nursing in 2010. He was an ardent supporter of the Michigan State Spartans, loved camping up north, going to museums, baking, painting, and spending time outside. The beautiful city of Empire, Michigan held a special place in his heart.

Devoted to his faith, Chris regularly attended St. Gerard Catholic Church and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He was thoughtful, funny, selfless, adventurous, and creative and he had a knack for lighting up any room he walked into. Chris believed in radiating positivity, a sentiment encapsulated in one of his favorite sayings, "Be a reflector of light."

Chris' greatest accomplishments included creating a harmonious and fulfilling life for himself and his family through hard work and determination. Despite facing numerous health challenges, he demonstrated enormous courage and strength, surviving multiple major surgeries and diseases.

Chris will be remembered for his resilience, compassion, and the love he had for his family and friends. His journey on earth may have ended, but his legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him. He will be truly and deeply missed.
