Christopher's obituary
Christopher John Martin, 71, entered into eternal rest on December 22, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family.
Born in Glen Ridge, NJ, to Shirley and John Martin of Kearny, NJ, Chris was a devoted husband, father, and friend whose kindness and strength touched everyone he met.
A hardworking man through and through, Chris took immense pride in his work and built strong relationships with his many colleagues and friends. He had a passion for working on his home—building rock walls, fixing anything that needed repair, and lending a hand to anyone in need. If he didn’t know how to do something, he’d simply learn—his trusty YouTube tutorials always by his side.
Chris found joy in life’s simple pleasures—fishing at dawn, beach trips with family, and peaceful moments in the mountains. He cherished every moment spent with loved ones, whether sharing laughter with friends or creating treasured memories with his wife and daughter. His dogs, Molly and Misty, were never far from his side, showered with love and affection.
Through his battle with ALS, Chris showed incredible courage and resilience. Though the disease took much from him, it never took his humor, his warmth, or the love he shared so freely.
Chris leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his adoring wife, Sharry; his loving daughter and son-in-law, Ariel and Eric Borkowski; his caring sister-in-law, Patti Davila; and his cherished nephew and niece, Eric Davila and Sue Leigh Palin. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made in Chris’s honor to support ALS research and awareness.
Chris, you were deeply loved, and you will be dearly missed.
