Christopher's obituary
Christopher G. Hudnell passed away Friday, October 25, 2024, following a short hospitalization. Little Ralphie, as he was known to many, spent his life in Oberlin, Ohio, growing up as an award-winning ice hockey player. He was a staple in the community having worked at the Wolfe Envelope Company, Oberlin skating rink and Gibson’s family store. He also did odd jobs all around town for just about anyone in need of help. Chris was always good for a laugh, honest beyond measure and he loved his friends and family. He held tightly to mementos from his hockey days as well as items from each one of his nieces and nephews, following their progress and beaming with pride. Toward the end of life for both of his parents he was present assisting his siblings with their final care like the devoted son he was.
Chris was preceded in death by his sister Lisa (2023), brother Brian [Heather] (2016) mother, Majorie (2013), brother Richard [Catherine] (2010), and father Ralph (2005). He is survived by his sister Laura Nelson (Cliff), his seven nieces/nephews, Allison, Anthony, Elizabeth, Deona (Curtis), Catrinia (Mehmet), Nicholas, Angela and nine great nieces/nephews, Grant, Sean, Harmony, CJ, Baby Boots, Harley, Nathan, Defne and Grace. Chris kept up with all of these birthdays and made sure each of his siblings’ children knew just how much he loved them with the HBD messages and Luv Much notes.
The family has planned a graveside service and trip to take Chris home on Friday December 6th at Westwood Cemetery in Oberlin. A gathering will follow for friends to share memories from the hockey days and more at Sterk’s Brickyard Bar and Grill, better known as the “old Presti’s,” one of his favorite spots in town.
Donations are welcome as the family would like to give on his behalf to the American Heart Association. He was a man with a big heart who love hard, may he rest forever now at PEACE.
