Thoughts About Our Dad
Dad was a loving, joyous, kind, optimistic, artistic, beautiful soul. His love of theater, the arts, acting, directing, drama, film, sailing, athletics, literature, voice-over arts, academia, adventure, world travel, family & friends was infectious. He radiated love, joy, kindness, lightheartedness & humor. He was charming, handsome and dapper…a gentleman & a scholar.
His knowledge of literature spanned the ages. His intellect & memory were uncanny…he could recite countless passages from classics, even if he had read them decades ago.
He made people feel important, seen & loved. His many phases of life made him a great storyteller, with fascinating stories to share. His voice had a resonance that put people at ease & made them want to listen. He encouraged us to use our imaginations to dream big & cheered us on every step of the way. He instilled a love of reading in us & countless others. Our nightly bedtime routine as children, always included multiple books, with him acting out the characters. He had a way with kids, that was pure magic (literally performing magic tricks.) His love of theater & the arts inspired his students, from Kindergarten through University.
Dad & Mom laughed & danced their way through life. Their dinner parties were filled with the most interesting, accomplished, artistic friends & family, whom we love & admire. Dad woke up each morning, went on a long run with our dog Juliet, recorded from his home studio as the “Voice of CBS”, then would make us, & any of our buddies who happened to bet here, the most delicious, elaborate breakfasts. Our house became the hangout for numerous friends, with Chris as a father figure to many. As we got older, our bonding time was typically over his perfected lattes in the morning or a frosty beer in the evening.
He brought us into his professional world by having us act with him in professional plays, & driving us around town going to our modeling & acting jobs & auditions. He was the coolest Dad in the world, bringing us to Hollywood wrap parties for movies & TV Shows, & inviting us hang with him on-set during filming days. He was loved and admired everywhere he went, simply by being him.
His love of family and friends created a rich life, focusing what matters most…each other. We feel so lucky to have spent decades with him on Earth, with a lifetime of fond memories.
We love you forever, Dad! Thank you for being the best father in the world.
