Christine's obituary
Christine Alberta Schutz (Zigler) - dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many - of Grand Haven, Michigan, passed away after a short battle with lung cancer on January 12, 2023, with family by her side. Christine was born January 27, 1952, in East Grand Rapids, Michigan, to John and Jean Zigler.
Christine is survived and forever cherished by her daughter and son-in-law, Courtney & Ian Overway; grandsons Asher and Eli; sister Susan Roark; sister-in-laws Shelly Zigler, and Sherry (Gary) Leyendecker; nieces and nephews Sara Roark, John (Molly) Roark, Heather Zigler, Charlie (Heather) Zigler, Rachel (Jeff) Rachoy, Keith (Bridgette) Leyendecker, Seth Leyendecker; several great nieces and nephews.
Christine was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Thomas Zigler. As well as her in-laws Vernon and Marjorie Schutz and niece Tammie Leyendecker.
Christine, worked for many years of her career at DDM Marketing and Communications eventually becoming the financial manager. In the later part of her life, Christine was affectionately known as Cici. Cici loved taking care of her grandsons by playing outside, fishing, and taking them on any adventures they sought. She also loved walking her two dogs and swimming. Throughout her late 50s and early 60s she participated in the swim and bike portions of several triathlons. Cici loved and cherished her time in Traverse City, Michigan yearly. She and her sister, Sue, started the tradition 30+ years ago of visiting up north each July with their families. Cici continued this tradition with her grandchildren and wished to spend eternity among the beautiful blue waters of the East Bay in Traverse City, so her ashes will be spread there later this summer.
A celebration of life will be held at Harbourfront Grand Hall, 41 Washington Grand Haven, Michigan, Saturday, February 11, 2-5 pm. The first part of the celebration will be visiting with family and friends and then at 3:30 rememberences will be given. Thank you for all your love and support during this difficult time.
