Chris's obituary

Christine Tucker Golding moved on, the morning of September 1st 2022. Melanoma overtook her body after a three-year war; the cancer never overtook her spirit or her survivor’s instinct to battle. She held her own all the while maintaining strength of character and endurance. She passed at her home with loved ones by her side.

Chris was born August 6th 1961 in Provo, Utah to Norma Jane Coombs Tucker and Bobbie LeRoy Tucker. She was raised by her parents Norma and Ronald Helser in the San Francisco Bay area. Chris returned to Utah County around 1976 where she married John (Stephanie) Golding in 1977, they had one daughter, Brandi, and later divorced. ln the 2000s, she moved to Syracuse, Utah, where she was able to enjoy her home with her horses in her backyard pasture.

Chris worked as a seamstress, welder and steel worker alongside her sister Jo. Chris became a boilermaker and later advanced to be a Health & Safety Specialist. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, summa cum laude in 2016. She was a badass and earned the respect of her coworkers through hard work, an eagerness to learn, persistence, loyalty, strength and the occasional practical joke. Being the underdog often in her own life, Chris was a strong supporter and active with labor unions throughout her working career. Even though she went to the "dark side" for the last few years, she always remembered her labor union roots and continued to promote equality and the safety of others.

Chris was also a Usui/Holy Fire® III Reiki Ryoho Reiki Master which enabled her to use her gifts to help others. She was very genuine in her interest and care for others; because of this, she made friends easily and left an impression. Friends often became and remained family. She was and is an inspiration to other women and minorities in the trades. She was a mentor, mother, sister, friend, cousin, aunt and a very proud grandmother who was loyal and fiercely protective of those she loved.

Chris loved spending time in the mountains with her horses, other fur babies and human family. She enjoyed horseback riding, camping, bow hunting, water sports and time with family and friends. She discovered a joy for traveling when she began to travel for union business in her early working days. This enjoyment continued during her travel to multiple states, Scotland, Ireland and other parts of Europe.

Chris is survived by her daughter: Brandi (Colby) Lassen; grandson: Jayson (Addi) Lassen; siblings: Ron Helser, Jolene (Todd) Chynoweth, Scott (Susie) Helser, Ronda Helser, Ronny (Ginger) Tucker, Donny (Emily) Tucker, Bobbi Jo Tucker, and Angel Tucker. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Jason Tucker and Tracey Tucker; and sister-in-law: Wendy Helser.

A rosary service will be held for Chris at The Cathedral of the Madeleine in Salt Lake City on Tuesday, September 6th at 6:00 p.m. There will also be a Catholic mass before the rosary service at 5:15 p.m. where there will be an intention for her during the Universal Prayer. All are welcome to attend either or both.  Please see the "Events" tab of this page.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
